Valentine Be Mine
Monday, February 14, 2005
Today people in the world celebrate Valentine's day, even the weather out there seems not friendly to me. It's little bit messy to get snow mixed with rain this morning which has been predicted in weather forecast last night. Anyway, it doesn't mean to harm my Valentine’s spirit to share with.After getting up from sleep and ready to fix my hubby's lunch to take away for work, I saw something on the table in the kitchen. Wow.. it's so surprising me! I got roses in the pot together with card and little gifts from my wonderful husband. Here is a little talk between us before my hubby left to work.
S: You've surprised me this morning with your gifts. When did you get this stuff? How did you hide them from me? (hehehe, lot of questions to ask..)
B: yesterday when I was out to post office... I know you can smell any strange-thing in this house, so I put them in my car
S: Hahaha, you know me very well. Btw, I am so sorry I don't have anything to get for you.
B: That's fine with me. You cooked the cake yesterday. Let's say it's such a gift to me.
S: Ooh dear.. that's so sweet!
Yup, it's true. I didn't have anything to give away to my hubby on Valentine's day but it doesn't mean I don't care about him! It's been more than 3 days I didn't feel good. I got cold, my nose couldn't stop runny, and my head hurt me so bad. That's the reason for sure I couldn't go out to find any gift for my hubby. Well, it's common why people would get sick and feel the same thing I do during the winter time. However, I’ve cooked a chocolate cake for our Valentine which turns out pretty good (look at the picture below). Talking about Valentine, it has something to do with chocolate. Unfortunately I have no idea what is the relation between them. Probably, because chocolate is sweet and passionate.. I guess.
To complete our Valentine celebration, we went dining out at Famous Dave's last night (as usual, I got my favorite menu, ribs! yummie..). Yeah we moved it on Sunday because my husband got to work on Monday. I know he would feel worn out to go out after working a whole day. Not a big deal though!
Valentine's Day, to me, isn't about what you get for him or for her, or what you do. It's about taking the time to express your deep felt and sincerest love. For instance, a single rose can have more meaning than all the roses in the world.
You don't have to be perfect or try to get fancy. You can be sweet only by giving a little attention to say "Happy Valentine". I am pretty sure that the pressure would come from trying to live up to a fantasy. The reality and secret to being the perfect valentine is letting her or him know how much she or he is needed and loved. She or he is to you, what God is to the saint whose name we honor on this day. She or he is your faith; and like birds who mate for life, she or he is your chosen sweetheart.
As you know I am the person who is addicted to fruit (or you can call me fruit lover), I think this poem below is neat and sweet. Last but not least, I dedicate this poem only to my soul mate, Brad.
Valentine Food For Thought
Cabbage always has a heart; Green beans string along.
You're such a cute tomato, Will you peas to me belong?
You've been the apple of my eye, You know how much I care;
So lettuce get together, We'd make a perfect pear.
Now, something's sure to turnip to prove you can't be beet;
So, if you carrot all for me let's let our tulips meet. Don't squash my hopes and dreams now, Bee my honey, dear;Or tears will fill potato's eyes, While sweet corn lends an ear.
I'll cauliflower shop and say, Your dreams are parsley mine.
I'll work and share my celery, So be my valentine.
