We Are The World

Today's subject in my English class is still related to Valentine's day. The topic was getting more interesting to me when we discussed about the song of "We are the World" after listening to this song shortly from the tape. I would say that the song is about how you express love to the people in the world. The lyrics sound so impressive and encouraging people to become optimistic. Some words are also taken from articles in a Holly Bible like "as God has shown us by turning stone to bread".


The song reminds me in the past, 1985 exactly, thousand radio stations around the world played this song. People in the world listened together to musicians of varied colors and cultures singing "We Are the World".


Many famous recording artists-among them, Harry Belafonte, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Michael and LaToya Jackson, Quincy Jones, Bette Midler, Willie Nelson, Lionel Richie, Kenny Rogers, Paul Simon, Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder-came together to raise money for people starving in Africa and the United States. Within a year after the song's release, $44 million had been through sales of records, video-tapes, T-shirts, sweatshirts, and posters.


For next week's study, we got to do the homework to write a little story with title "How Can I Make The World a Better Place?" Hmm... I barely ever thought about this subject in my whole life. Now I feel like nobody who has nothing to give away as my contribution for this world. Well, I think I got the idea now what to tell about for my"homework" story. I will tell you soon I finish to write down my story, ok!
