Movie Review: FlightplanDefinitely what made me eager to see this movie is Jodie Foster, one of my favorite actress, who always did a great effort transforming herself into a desired thrilling character of any movie she has ever been involved. Let's count "Panic Room", "Silence of The Lamb", "Maverick", "The Accused", and other dramas such as "Anna and the King", "Sommersby", etc. The best thing from Jodie is her facial expressions could release any mixed emotion she has that moment, for example: fear, worry, sad, discouraging, etc.
I was bored in early scenes of this movie with a slow plot of story that put me into a question whether Kyle Pratt (Foster) has an hallucination affected by her sleeping & antidepressant pills and makes up the story that she has a daughter accompanying her in the plane.
It woke me up in the middle of the movie to see her hero actions, another her best acting skill too (of course), but still left me a thought she is getting crazy because of hopeless condition. Then it turned around my mind immediately when the camera shots her unaware little girl lying down the compartment of aircraft engine room. Here she goes! The best part of movie began..
Flying at 40,000 feet in a cavernous, state-of-the-art E-474 aircraft, Kyle Pratt (Foster) faces every mother's worst nightmare when her six-year-old daughter Julia vanishes without a trace mid-flight from Berlin to New York. Already emotionally devastated by the unexpected death of her husband, Kyle desperately struggles to prove her sanity to the disbelieving flight crew and passengers while facing the very real possibility that she may be losing her mind. While neither the plane's Captain Rich (Sean Bean), nor Air Marshal Gene Carson (Peter Sarsgaard) want to doubt the bereaved widow, all evidence indicates that her daughter was never on board resulting in paranoia and doubt among the passengers and crew of the plane. Finding herself desperately alone, Kyle can only rely on her own wits to solve the mystery and save her daughter. See yourself the rest of the story.. (source: yahoo movie reviews)It's such funny to read some silly reviews about this movie such as "How can a little girl simply disappear from an airplane at thousands feet?", "If she didn't know the plane better, really, than its pilots, her case would be hopeless", "If her little girl spoke to anyone in the plane, the case should not have happened".. yadda yadda . Excuse me? Why not you all produce your own movie to feel you better!
By watching the whole story of the movie, I should say Flightplan is amazing, nice, excellent, has a great ending and a best movie of the year (so far) no matter what! For those who are not watching yet, you got to put into your must-list to see.
In contrast with a good movie we saw last Monday, we had an awful menu at Big Bowl restaurant nearby the cinema. The hot pepper noodle I ordered was too salty and they don't even have a sweet soy sauce which is unusual in such a restaurant with Asian cuisine, and the black pepper steak and broccoli my hubby had was rubbery and not fresh, too much corn starch I guess. Oh well.. it's certainly not a good restaurant to recommend about!
