Planting in Autumn

Thursday, October 20, 2005

The temperature is little bit cooler today as it drops about 20 degrees from yesterday. A good thing is I got planting all my bulbs done yesterday before the lawn mowing people showed up to clean the yard. Yeah, it's confusing me sometimes I saw them mowing & cleaning the yards once in 2 or 3 weeks and some other time I didn't see them quite long, 2 months maybe. I saw some neighbors the other day cleaning up their own yard to remove the falling leaves off that it's supposedly done by mowing people. I know it looks like a mess if we let the leaves scatter, smother and lie layer by layer over the grass.

Since the new management took over the duties to take care of our community area, many of us as the homeowners don't see or get any improvement or a better service that a management should provide us based on the set-up rules and regulation governing this community. Too bad for us, we have to pay the fee every month regarding to dissatisfying-poor-service. The worse thing is they keep increasing the fee every year with an excuse that everything is going up now. Excuse me too! What 'everything' do you mean? Looking at their budget figures, I found out the management spends about 50% budget just for employee salary expenses. So, why do we have to pay more lazy people or raise their salary without getting any better service? It's obviously a rip-off! As seen in the budget, they put the figures of maintenance (asphalt, grounds, snow, termites, windows, etc), landscaping, trash removal and anything else categorized into expenses every year, but in fact do we get all this service during a year?

Although the previous management was very strict in making and doing their rules, I remember they did the service little better, for examples: they sent people for lawn-mowing and yard-cleaning quite often, they took care of our little garden, too, by cleaning the wild bushes and spreading the mulch over the ground of the garden, the trash removal came early in the morning to get rid off the stinky garbage as soon as possible. Oh well, like or dislike I have to deal with the current service. Anyhow, we are a member of homeowner associates that we can get votes together with other homeowners to raise the issue of poor services and provide the issues to the management , and hope they are working on it to improve the services a lot better. Unfortunately none of us have ever attended the homeowner associates meeting because we were lazy & had no interest for sure. We just signed up for yes or no when the associates needed our vote in dealing with any significant issues.

Poor me, I should have talked about my day planting bulbs instead of a long talk about housing service that no one might not be interested in. Lucky me, I get that kind of service that I don't have to mow the lawn by myself. A bottom line: quit complaining from now!
