Entertainments @ Ambassador's House

Wednesday, August 10, 2005

Taking a long trip about 2 hours by driving a car plus riding a metro, stepping into a wrong stop, getting lost in the middle of our walk, and having sweat to death all over my face and back, I found all was worth it in the end when I was enjoying how tasteful some Indonesian foods I ate at the bazaar. The event held by Indonesia Embassy Office in Washington DC is supposedly to celebrate the Independence day of my home country, Indonesia, that is coming on next week, Aug 17th. I really had a good time while there in meeting some Indonesian friends, watching Indonesian community of DC surroundings, enjoying the ethnic foods & song-music-entertainments, and certainly having chit chat with friends.

One troublesome I didn't like being there is the crowd, doubled from last year, was extremely high and didn't allow people easily to walk in and out or to buy something from the booths.. what a mess?. I had to wait my turn for 15 minutes to get served by the vendor in normal way. If it were not, it took longer than 15 minutes not because of the slow service but more to the improper customers behaviors whom never recognize "FIFO" method (First In First Out). Yes, they ignored to get in-line when they were buying something from the booth. Hhmm ..how come they forget the "getting-in-line" discipline which is common here and are back to their native habit soon they get together with Indonesian community? Oh well, I don't care! though I hate it!

As told in my previous post, the three kind of Indonesian cooking I prepared the other day to welcome Marsia, a friend from WV, are Skewered Chicken with peanut sauce (Sate Ayam Madura), Beef Curry Square with vinegar spicy sauce (Martabak Telor), and Rice Cake in Chicken-Vegetable-Curry Soup (Lontong Sayur). Enjoy the pictures.. darn yummie!
