Daylight Saving Time Is Over

Saturday, October 29, 2005

Tomorrow DST (Daylight Saving Time ) is officially over for this year and it will return to begin on the first Sunday of April in next year. Tonight I got to set the clock back one hour, otherwise I would go too early to the church. The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time is obviously to save energy and to enjoy a long sunshine days as well. During Fall & Winter, we get daylights very short and need to turn the houselights on starting at 5 pm when the sun sets. Therefore we don't save energy as we do in Spring & Summer when the sunset happens usually around 8 or 9 pm. I just knew about DST when I came to America for the first time some years ago. I found it's pretty interesting and amazing because my home country doesn't adopt such this method. Well, definitely the reason is our tropical country doesn't have Fall and Winter season like US or Europe does. I remember DST actually had affected me back then when I saw my computer changed automatically and needed to reset two times a year but I had no idea why it happened. As wisdom says "we know something better when we find and see the facts", I do the same thing, too!
