Before Summer Ends Up

Friday, August 12, 2005

Autumn is pretty soon coming on the way, so before getting ready for the cooler- freezing- temperatures, be sure to check out the things you love to do out of your remaining summer days. First of all, you need to ask yourself "Am I having fun yet?" Then list down the activities you won't miss before the waning lazy, hazy days are over. Below is the guidance of several things to do before summer ends and to remind each of us how to get the most from the joyful summer. I put my check-list here, too.

1. Make time for yourself
> curl up with your hobby, ex: reading, painting (done)
> treat your beauty, ex: pedicure, manicure (not really necessary to me)
> take the day off, ex: vacation, movie (done and on-going)

2. Be crafty
> think flower power (done)
> sell your clothes (done, but we did giving away to veterans instead of selling out)
> make a summer photo album (done and ongoing)

3. Enjoy the great outdoors
> watch a sunset (done most of the time)
> roll on the river (not yet)
> start an herb garden (a must-done)
> look to the sky for stargazing (not done, we don't have a pair of binoculars)
> go skinny-dipping (sounds not interesting to me, although I find myself skinny enough after losing about 5 pounds due to dental surgery)

4. Be an exciting person
> pop the bubbly champagne (sorry I'm not a drink-person)
> freshen up, ex put sprigs of mint in your drinks (I did it with lemon)
> enjoy summer berries (Oh yes, absolutely done)
> be an island beauty, ex: citrus body scrub (hhmm not yet done so far, I got to do it!)

5. Be childlike
> pedal a bicycle built for two (I love that, unfortunately we don't have any bike)
> ride a roller coaster (uuggh I hate it!)
> allow yourself to be silly, ex. blow bubbles, hula-hoop, or color with sidewalk chalk (not done, it must be fun with kids though!)
> play games, ex. volleyball or any other outdoor game (not done yet, I miss playing tennis)

6. Become a culture vulture
> be a tourist in your own city (done)
> support the arts, ex: a fun food festival, a concert in the park (done)
> see a movie outside (done to indoor-movie)

7. Love the ones you're with
> be your puppy's best friend (not ever done, no pet in my house-dictionary!)
> light up your life, ex. catch fireflies (done; I like watching the fireflies in evening and my hubby loves catching the japanese beetles)
> host an end-of-summer barbecue (I will do it by end of this month just for two of us)
> enjoy a twilight picnic for two (done; we enjoy ice cream sometimes in our backyard)
