State Inspection & Oil Change Are Done
Wednesday, June 08, 2005

After reading 4 magazines, watching entertainment news & local news, overhearing to some people's talk and drinking a bottled cranberry juice, I finally could bring the truck back home. I spent almost 2 hours in auto shop to get an annual state inspection and a regular oil change which cost me with a normal price. In return to a long-wait, the people in auto shop had treated me very nice that one staff drove the truck to the front door, not to let me walk too far to parking lot and another staff opened a car to let me in easily. Cool!! isn't it? I think they might be little bit surprised to see me, a little lady, driving a truck. How do I say so? Well, first question was asked when I checked-in to the counter, "Is the Camry or GMC?" And I said "None, It's a Ford truck." Yes, we have been a frequent customer here so they just check out our car lists in the computer. But, anyway, this was the first time I brought the truck here for the service because I took it to another auto shop last year. The second question was asked in the middle of waiting time,"Ma'm, is your car Honda?" asked one staff. "Nope, mine is a Ford truck." I replied back. See, they still didn't believe I drive a pickup truck. Anyhow, it's funny though!!
In Jakarta where I used to live, I usually asked my driver, dad or brothers to bring my car to the auto shop once it needed the service for oil change, car wash, breaking downs, and emission inspection. Yeah I've never been comfortable going alone to auto shop during my whole life in Jakarta. I was always obsessed to worry not only getting dirty and smell, but also to the workers' bad manners who sometimes do whistling and flirting particularly to young women. Here, on the other hand, I have nothing to worry about. Only I may still worry to get rip-off like what I got last year. Yeah, I didn't understand about car and neither I'd like to know it better, sooner or later. Therefore I had to pay about 300 bucks last year for some stuff in the truck which was needed to replace by before getting inspection passed. What a rip-off!!
